The two were honoured at Whatunga Tuuao/Volunteer Central's ceremony in Palmerston North on Friday, 9 June. Their impact in our community is recognised!
Francelle Aiken's a retired Year One teacher. She's been a passionate volunteer for ELP for many years: a home tutor to many learners. Francelle says she values the relationships formed with each learner.
She also patiently helps us sort out the resources at our centre, by the way!
Trevor Dearlove, also a retired teacher, has found it incredibly rewarding to meet the family he’s helped, while also enriching his own knowledge about another culture. Trevor says, “If our lives were reversed, I would like to think there were people who would assist me to assimilate into the new country.”
We're deeply grateful for our volunteers’ dedication and commitment to ELP and our learners, and we were very happy to see their contribution to our community acknowledged.
National Volunteer Week's "The Big Shout Out" is just around the corner - 18-24 June. Get stuck in!
