‍ What you’ll be doing

• Supporting our Auckland South Centre Manager, Centre Coordinators, teachers and other staff, learners, volunteers and visitors with all the tasks required to keep a busy language centre operating smoothly. Key tasks will include front desk/reception, administration, finance and programme support, teacher and learner support, office management, data entry and file management. 
• Permanent Full-Time, 37.5 hours per week, $28 per hour, Manukau location.

‍Is this you?

• Proven administration experience with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Strong organisational, multitasking and administration skills
• Confident IT user with experience across the Microsoft office suite, social media and database use
• A clear and friendly communication style, fluency in English (spoken and written) with a strong customer service ethos.

Desirable requirements

• Experience in Adult Education or TESOL
• Fluency in a second language is highly desirable  
• Experience working with former refugees, migrants and/or people from other cultures
• Knowledge of education and immigration sector and voluntary organisations

Our Northland Centre is looking for ESOL Teachers interested in relief work in 2024, supporting migrants to improve their spoken and written English language skills in small group English classes.

Who you are

You’ll be an experienced Teacher who has lived or taught in New Zealand for at least a few years or perhaps you’ve worked with adult learners, either way you are well versed in NZ cultural practices but still have empathy for the challenges of adapting to a new country.  You are creative, practical, and adaptable in your teaching style and take pride in delivering a truly learner-centred curriculum.

• Classes range from more general conversationEnglish classes to specialist classes targeting adult literacy, job seeking, workplace English, and more
• Teaching rate, $49.34 per hour, casual opportunities available for immediate start, with the potential for further short, fixed term engagements in 2024.
• We also offer, one-to-one private tuition contracts, variable hours, learner home based under a self-employed contractor arrangement, $56.50 per hour plus GST.
• Whangarei location.

Is this you?

• Tertiary qualified in TESOL at level 5 or above(e.g. graduate certificate, Bachelor's degree, post-grad diploma such as CELTA, Cert TESOL, Cert TEAL, Dip SLT).
• Additionally, New Zealand teaching qualification(ideally primary) or NCALNE (Voc) is desirable but not essential.
• Experienced in ESOL teaching (preferably in a New Zealand context) at varied levels, particularly to beginner learners.
• Experience in a primary school teaching background who can teach learners who have had little to no education in their own country. 
• Experience delivering online teaching and/or a good understanding of technology for teaching is desirable.
• A learner centred approach with the ability to be guided by a curriculum while being creative, practical, and adaptable in your teaching style.
• A motivated self-starter with strong cultural sensitivity, empathy and the ability to work as part of a tight-knit team.
